PCHS Students Tour Local Businesses, Internship Opportunities

Port Clinton High School is looking for local businesses to provide career experiences for students. There are two programs at the high school that provide real world career experiences. On October 27, students had the opportunity to tour USG and LEWCO to learn about job opportunities.

Mr. Harrilla, LEWCO, Inc., gave students of PCHS a tour of their new facility located in the Lake Erie Business Park in Port Clinton.

CEO Internship Program

Port Clinton High School and the Ottawa County Business Advisory Council have teamed up to offer a program called Career Engagement Opportunity (CEO) Internship Program. This program allows students to explore different career fields with job shadowing or internship experiences. The purpose of the CEO Internship Program is to allow students the opportunity to explore different career fields. This gives them the knowledge to make well-informed career decisions. Scholarships are available for students who complete the program.

The CEO Internship Program is available to high school juniors and seniors. Students have the opportunity to continuously work with an employer matched to their interests. Students are able to leave during the school day to go to the business to receive hours of instruction. The scheduling is flexible, with time accumulated over the entire course of the school year. Students can complete either a 60 hour or 120 hour CEO Internship Program. There is no expense to the employer providing the job experience.

PCHS Job Shadow Program

Port Clinton High School also has a Job Shadow Program for both high school juniors and seniors to match students with employers of interest. Students can complete either a half day or full day shadow. The job shadow experience gives students a real world feel about the possible field of interest. Students may job shadow up to four times during the school year.
