Conference Rooms

Conference Room A (CRA) is a small conference room that holds 15 people, including tables and chairs. The room has a small projector screen, but no projector. Please plan to bring your own projector and laptop.

Conference Room B (CRB) is a large conference room that holds 36 people, including tables and chairs. The room has a large projector screen with an attached over-head projector. There is a computer with a mouse to operator the projector. Please plan to bring your own laptop and/or a flash drive.

*Conference Rooms A and B (CRA/B) can open up into one large conference room that holds 60 people, including tables and chairs. The Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce host their Business Over Breakfast in this room. Other businesses who utilize this room include Northern Manufacturing, Adfilm/ACPO, and Materion Brush, Inc.

Training Room A (TRA) is a small conference room that holds 15 people, including tables and chairs. The room has a small projector screen, but no projector. Please plan to bring your own projector and laptop. The ABLE Program holds their GED classes in this room on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Training Room B (TRB) is the resource centre’s computer lab that holds 15 people. There are 12 working computers. The room has a large projector screen with an attached over-head projector, and a printer as well. The Job Search Workshop is held in this room on the first and third Mondays of each month.

Workshop A (WSA) is where the Marine Skills for Life program holds their classes, normally January-April.

Workshop B (WSB) is the Volvo Penta workshop.

ABLE Classes

Classes are free of charge and available to everyone! Classes focus on improving reading, math, writing, science and social studies skills. They are appropriate for anyone preparing to take the GED test or for those who just need to sharpen their basic skills for workplace advancement or higher education. Those who complete their GED are invited to participate in Vanguard’s Adult Ed Graduation Ceremony!

New student orientations are once a month at the Ottawa County Resource Centre. During orientation, students complete paperwork, examine their learning styles, set goals, and take assessments to determine academic strengths and weaknesses. Once this is complete, students enter the class and conference with their instructors to determine their individual learning plan.
