This years’ Experience Ottawa County event was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the OCIC and the Executive Board held a 3rd Quarter Trustee Meeting and Strategic Planning Session in its place on Tuesday, September 15 at the Catawba Island Club. OCIC Trustee and Associate members, elected officials and members from the Regional Growth Partnership (JobsOhio) were in attendance.
During the Trustee Meeting, Chris Singerling, OCIC Director, gave an update on current OCIC activities such as business retention and expansion, OhioMeansJobs, and Business Advisory Council efforts including the CEO Internship Program and the Skilled Trades Academy. Chris also introduced Carolyn Rodenhauser, OCIC’s new Business & Workforce Development Manager, to the members.
After the Trustee Meeting and lunch, OCIC went right into the Strategic Planning Session. The goal of this meeting was for the Full Board of Trustees to be engaged in the 2021-23 strategic planning process.
“OCIC’s strategic plan is the framework for what we believe to be the primary focus of the organization and where it is headed,” commented Chris Singerling.
Trustee and Associate members were split up into 4 groups of 7-8 individuals to provide input on each of OCIC’s 4 strategic pillars: Business Retention & Expansion, New Business Attraction, Workforce Development, Communications & Marketing.
The next steps are to gather the feedback received from each breakout group and incorporate it into OCIC’s strategic planning process. The strategic planning process will continue through the fall with the intent of having it completed in early 2021. Our next meeting will take place in November (date forthcoming) and we strongly encourage all OCIC Trustee and Associate members to participate.
