LogistiQ Press Release – On July 27th, 2024, LogistiQ hosted their 2nd Annual Golf Scramble where all proceeds benefit the Ottawa County Skilled Trades Academy (STA). At 8 a.m., 32 teams scattered across the 18-hole course. This was an increase of eight teams from 2023.

Not only was it a perfect summer day for some golf, but also some games spread throughout the course. The golf carts were lined up to take off with welcome bags that included LogistiQ branded Koozies, Taylor Made golf balls, and a divot repair tool. Other assorted items were also included per donations from an assortment of vendors. 13 holes on the course had games. A few included some play or pay, such as putt-putt like a pro, where once the ball reaches the green, it was required to putt with a child’s sized putter. A favorite was Bad Cards Fore Good Golfers, where before taking the tee box, each player will draw a card, containing a prompt, action, or special rule for the hole that will either help you, hurt you, or just make you look silly. Opting out at these holes was $5. There were also prizes for longest drive and longest putt.

Three holes on the course were home to the celebrities of the day. Chris Singerling – Executive Director of the Ottawa County Improvement Corporation (OCIC), Nick Henderson – (STA) Instructor, and Clay Finken – Director Ottawa County Airport (OCIC Chair Member). They spent the day golfing with each team. Katherine Adams – Manager of Workforce and Career Exploration (OCIC) spent the day at the ParTee (practice putting green) where there was an assortment of prizes. Pay $5 to putt and anything the ball hits, you win!

As the teams made it to the club house, everyone enjoyed lunch and the raffle prizes! Many of the raffle prizes were donated by LogistiQ and other vendors or local businesses. Some prizes included a Yeti Cooler, gift cards, sporting event tickets, and a solo stove. As a stand-alone premium raffle item, a custom fitted Ping set of golf clubs were donated by the Catawba Island Club. Everyone departed by 3 p.m. with a smile on their face from a day of fun, all for a great cause. Many thanks to the vendors who donated a team, raffle prizes, and the LogistiQ team who helped with all the backend planning, and those who volunteered that day.

On Friday, September 6th, 2024, LogistiQ hosted the Ottawa County Business Advisory council meeting where the check from the Golf Scramble was presented, with a value of $60,000, thanks to the generous match from Jerry Guerra, President of LogistiQ. Jerry noted during the presenting of the check: “Skilled trades brought me back in. I ended up going to Terra Tech and it was machining that eventually drew me into engineering. I have a passion for skilled trades. Jobs in Ohio. American jobs. We need manufacturing in America and skilled trades allows that to happen here. We are seeing an uptick in this and that is one of the reasons we are passionate about giving back to skilled trades.”
