High School Seniors have an opportunity to participate in our local skilled trades academy program that combines e-learning with hands on work, business visits, and job shadowing opportunities with Ottawa County employers. Students in the program earn high school credit and the program can lead to internship and career opportunities. Participants in the academy learn about core skills in a variety of industry applications, are exposed to a variety of skilled trades career pathways and are introduced to business ethics and entrepreneurship. Students can then specialize in a career field with a local employer and learn what it takes to be successful in the profession.
The Ottawa County Skilled Trades Academy has several benefits:
– Earn High School Credit
– Walk away with MSSC Certifications
– Training Opportunities
– Meet Employers who are Hiring
– Learn Valuable Skills
The program year will include a combination of virtual and hands-on instruction from Northwest State Community College’s Core Manufacturing & Logistics Skills (CMLS) Program curriculum that will prepare students to take the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) Certified Production Technician (CPT) exams and assessments.
