The Ottawa County Improvement Corporation (www.ocic.biz) is pleased to announce that it has expanded the organization’s scope of work to include direct support for connecting Ottawa County job seekers to employment opportunities. On July 1st, the OCIC assumed operation of the OhioMeansJobs Ottawa County Center (www.ohiomeansjobs.com), located in the Ottawa County Resource Center.
“OCIC’s primary mission has been focused on supporting the investment and workforce needs for local businesses. We believe incorporating employment services for job seekers into our scope of work more directly connects the job seeker to an employer’s workforce needs,” stated Jamie Beier Grant, OCIC Director.
With its expanded scope of services, OCIC is excited to announce the addition of Valerie Mannon who serves as the Employment Resources Coordinator. In this position, Ms. Mannon will operate the Ohio Means Jobs Center with a focus on providing direct, core job search and employment related services to all job/career seekers.

She previously worked as the Human Resources Development Instructor at Cape Fear Community College, where she taught job seekers employability skills, resume writing and job searching. Ms. Mannon served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and she hopes to use her skills and leadership abilities to benefit the lives of those in her community.
“Valerie recently moved to Ottawa County to be closer to family. The OCIC is excited to officially have her on board. Her background and experience has already proven to be a tremendous asset to our organization and Valerie will continue to play an integral role in enhancing the mission of the organization,” commented Ms. Beier Grant.
